Does anyone here have any fun things they want to do over the summer? I sort of try to make a set of "Summer" resolutions, things I want to get done in my 3ish months off of classes. So here are my goals:

1. Learn to cook better. I'm going to be getting apartment come August and would like to how to make more inexpensive, healthy, and eco-friendly meals. I really want to learn how to cook/work with dry beans, as I'm used to working with canned ones or ones that my mom started with from dry beans.

2. Write more. I want to finnish a short-ish novel length story. I don't intend to get all editing done, just the story written.

3. Learn Biology. I want to get the credit-by exam in this subject so I can be more likely to graduate on-time as I'm double majoring. So I have a biology textbook, the list of things on the test, and am going to try and teach myself the material.

4. Read more. Some friends of mine and I have decieded to start a 'book club' over the summer where we all read the same books and discuss them over email. Various selected titles include: Interview with a Vampire, Northanger Abbey, The Hunger Games, The Wizard of Oz, and more. We want a wide variety of different genres and such. We are still looking for a good Sci-fi title.

Those are my so far, goals for this summer. Does anyone else here set Summer resolutions? If so, share them!

If you are still looking for a good Sci-fi, I would suggest Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Fantastic read, not too sci-fi-ish and an easy read (I read it in 7th grade).

Also, my summer list:
1) pass my summer classes with an A (I'm taking geography and speech)
2) read the book list for my fall YA lit class
3) work at my job with the college theatre
4) go to the river and have fun
5) read and write a bit

1) Attend summer classes (I'm currently taking two courses-History of Western Art I and Biology 101)
2) Read. I'm way behind on my reading list.
3) Study languages.
4) Visit West Virginia and Florida
5) Volunteer

1. Read- I've had a very difficult school year where I couldn't read for pleasure. Now I can and I completely plan to take advantage of it.
2. Write- My friends and I have a goal of each writing a coming of age novel.
3. Go to London

Arielle S: Actually one of our group members I believe did suggest that book
Michelle: It does help doesn't it, Thats part of why I wrote this blog. Good luck on the test and finding a good job! Oh, and we might read that, we aren't set in stone on anything and do like classic things, I guess you can sorta tell by our list. Some old, some new. We are starting with Interview with the Vampire though and its really good so far.

I don't know that my list is so much a "resolution" list as it is a to-do list.
1) to find a job that pays a good amount, save for a car, visit my furture job site during the summer, find a new apartment/roommates.
2) Prepare for the GRE (to be taken in August).
Whew...i think that helped. The more I type/writing things out the more motivated I am to following through with them.
