WWDD - Honor the memory of those fallen in the name of justice.

My father served in the U.S. Armed forces, and even though he never saw active duty, he often talks about the soldiers he prayed with in Air Force hospitals all over the world. Their sacrifice helped free Europe from the hellish reality of Adolph Hitler. As I write this it's the 4th of July in the United States. On this patriotic holiday and on Veterans Day, my father gets up very early and meets a large group of retired serviceman to remember and honor those who served our country and lost thei… Continue

WWDD - NEVER ban books

Please excuse me as I'm about to step on my "soap box." (Does soap come in boxes anymore?) Hagrid tried to convince Harry that he was something special, but to Harry Potter, what you saw is what you got. Broken glasses, cupboard and all. Dumbledore was ok with "Just Harry." He didn't try to change our hero, to pretty up the package so he fit the "Witch Weekly" look, instead Harry was allowed, and encouraged, to be "Just Harry." Here in lies a small step to greatness. Many tim… Continue

Finding Fair Trade Chocolate and Coffee

After leaving LeakyCon, I became a woman on a mission. I ADORE chocolate, and don't really eat much of it, but after hearing about HPA's "Not in Harry's Name" campaign, I wanted to make sure I ate only Fair Trade Chocolate. I even checked out the Global Exchange web site to look for alternatives if my local market didn't sell it. I was excit… Continue
