Call to Gryffindors!

Who is pumped for Wrock4Equality?

This is seriously the single HP Alliance campaign that I am most excited to be a part of. Equal marriage rights is the most significant civil rights battle for our generation, and here is an amazing chance for Gryffindors to make our mark on history.

It would be awesome to see all able-bodied Gryffindors make their way up to Portland, ME for our awesome show/canvassing event on October 24th. But for those who can't make the trip, please register to do some phone banking on behalf of Gryffindor at http://www.callforequality.org/!

This will be an awesome event and I'd like for all Gryffindors to be a part of it! Go forth and be brave!

WWDD: Headmaster of the Universe

There's a pretty good chance that Harry and the Potters wouldn't exist without Albus Dumbledore. I don't want downplay the importance of our hero–the indomitable, the immortal, the only slightly imitable Harry Potter–but I'm just being honest here. I first read Harry Potter when I was 21 years-old and, as an aspiring adult, I was less interested in the self-confidence-lacking 11-year-old than in the wise old wizard who seemed to hold all the secrets to this wonderland teeming with mystery and ma…

Genocide Prevention Month: Cambodia

Dudes,

Did you even know that there was a genocide in Cambodia 34 years ago? I'm sitting here like "WTF, how come there are so many damn genocides going down on this planet?!?! This is crazy! Why can't we treat each other with some decency and employ even a modicum of respect for human life?!?!"

Damn! I know genocides are depressing things to think about, so let's get positive.

April is Genocide Prevention y'all! Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, so today we're learn…

Rwanda Video Project

Hey guys,

Did you listen to the awesome call we had on Sunday? Wow! It was totally amazing hearing from such an inspirational woman like Sifa. Oh yeah, and Hank Green was there too! How cool was that?! If you missed the call, please download the podcast because this call was definitely the best DA meeting we have had so far!

I just want to remind all Gryffindors about this great BONUS POINTS opportunity! Dudes, we are in last place! What up? I know we can do better than this! No…

Sylvia, forget that whole 'tie-balloons-to-your-house-and-float-to-Wrockstock-just-like-in-the-movie-UP' plan. I've got a better one. Step one: 'Get lost on the way to the store'. Step two: Don't actually get lost, just call and tell your parents that. (This ensures that they aren't mad with you for missing school because getting lost is just beyond your control. You could even play the guilt card and blame them for not ever buying you a GPS or a map.) Step three: Travel to Wrockstock. (I know there is some sort of 'pond' between the UK and the USA, but I'm pretty sure stealing a paddle boat will put an end to that issue. Also, by stealing a paddle boat you're saving all sorts of money that most people would've had to spend on airfare. Smart thinking, I know.) Step four: Go to Wrockstock. Step five: Repeat step three in the opposite order. Step six: Rush into your house all exhausted like and explain to your parents how you must have taken a wrong turn on the way to the store, but it's all fine and dandy now because you're home again. Step seven: Mission Sylvia goes to Wrockstock is complete.

I think this is officially the weirdest/most ridiculous comment I've ever posted. XD

I want to go to Wrockstock sooooo bad, but its a bit harder for me over in Britain. My folks are ok with me going in theory, it's really just that I'll be missing school, and they don't like that booo :( but I might be able to talk them round... hopefully. also there's the money issue, do you know how much it is to get to st. louis from glasgow??

I went to the Snow Ball last year and wowowow It was pretty awesome! I think I'm going to some more UK wrock concerts in the summer too.

I think I'm going to Leaky. well it looks more hopeful cause its in the hols :D also it'll be two days before I beocme an adult witch (according to the ministry xD )

long comment :)

Wrockstock is super fun, I totally encourage people to go. It was my first BIG fandom event... I've been to a live Pottercast/Lupin/Willow this past summer, and then seen Whompy & JFF twice, plus the myrtles once. On the 15th I'm going to the Whompy/JFF/Fred Lives show in Hammond. :D

Thw Wrock concert I'm going to on the 14th will be the first fandom like thing I've been to. Wrockstock will be my first big event, other than release parties. And yes Emma I did ask my step mom about wrockstock and I got a "unless anything big hapens between now and then you can most likely go" We just have to convince my dad which will be really easy. Wow this is a long comment...

Same with me, Max. And I was the one with the Harry Potter-themed birthday. Still have the paper plates from it.
Max C Comment by Max C on February 1, 2010 at 6:41pm
I still have yet to go to an official HP event. The closest thing I've been to is a Harry Potter-themed birthday party and the midnight release parties!
