Accio Books-- KEEP DONATING!

Accio Books! will run March 1-31st

Not only will we be sharing our love of reading with people who need it, but we will all be competing for House Cup bragging rights.

Who will come out victorious? The valiant Gryffindors, the hardworking Hufflepuffs, the clever Ravenclaws, or the ambitious Slytherins?

Join in the Accio Books! discussions in your House's group and learn about the super secrets projects our prefects have come up with for each house.

For more information, check the HPA Main Page and our special Accio Books! page.

Ode to an Author: Madeleine L'Engle

So in honor of Accio Books, I am going to give you another ODE to an AUTHOR. I meant to do these with a bit more regularity, so I will try to make up for it during the second half of Accio Books.

I discovered Madeleine L'Engle when I was nine years old. We had to read A Wrinkle in Time for my fourth grade class. Since then I have been steadily making my way though everything she has written. I have been forcing myself to break up reading her nov… Continue

Acts of Kindness

The midway point

So, you may have heard of (if from nowhere else, from me) The Annual True Colors Conference, a LGBTQQA (lesbian, Gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, questioning, allies) conference! It is an incredible experience, and if you live anywhere near the conference, I highly recommend you attending!
last year at this conference I had a sort of an epiphany regarding my own personal sexual identity, and from that moment on have decided to identify as "que… Continue

Butterfly Boy

A gay man in my room? Give me a homicidal maniac any day!

Once again I must do the tiresome thing of having a little rant. It's quite nice, it saves me a fortune in therapy. Although I originally thought to blog about it, I decided against, for there are so many positive events to write and read about, as exampled by Help Haiti Heal, and Accio Books.

However, when I navigated to the HPA, I saw numerous posts decrying the outrageous cancellation of the prom ball, simply because a same-sex couple was to attend. This brought back to mind

Dear Daniel,

I wanted to start out by saying, I know by even writing this letter I'm takin
